Suspect Arrested In Murder Case



The man wanted for the murder of a woman found in Makanda has been caught.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s office says 28-year-old Brandon Banks was arrested at an acquaintances home in St. Louis around 6 p.m. Thursday without incident.

He is charged with first-degree murder in the death of 40-year-old Marsha Ann Brown. Her body was found on Potter’s Road off U.S. 51 in Makanda Tuesday morning.

Police accuse Banks of murdering Brown either Monday night or Tuesday morning.

Banks is awaiting extradition to Illinois. Police say they are looking for other people of interest.
