More Problems For Pastor Charged With Sexual Abuse
In Union County, a former pastor faces new accusations and the possibility that he could be declared a sexually dangerous person.
The Union County State’s Attorney’s office filed a petition against Bill Vandergraph Thursday morning that could, if accepted, send Vandergraph to the Department of Corrections because he poses a sexual threat to others. Prosecutors reference incidents of sexual abuse dating back to the 1970’s in the petition.
Vandergraph is currently charged with four counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and four counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault for incidents over the last two decades. A judge found evidence of a sexual assault in 2010 as well, but the judge ruled his mental status made him unfit for trial.
A hearing on the petition will be held on February 18.
