The Illinois unemployment rate is down to 8.7 percent.
This is the November rate announced yesterday, down from 8.9 percent in October.
The state had a net gain during the month of 9,400 jobs, but a loss of 900 government jobs, so the private sector gained 10,300. The total number of jobs in Illinois is 5.8 million. Unemployed people: 567,000 which is down 11,800.
Illinois still has one of the highest unemployment rates in the nation, and is above the national rate of 7.0 percent.
