Ameren Natural Gas Rate Hike Approved

The bill for natural gas stands to go up – and electricity down – from Ameren.

The Illinois Commerce Commission has approved a $32 million rate hike for natural gas delivery and a $45 million rate decrease for electricity.

Jim Chilsen, spokesman for the Citizens Utility Board, says the Illinois Commerce Commission did the right thing by reducing Ameren’s electricity delivery rate – but did the wrong thing by allowing the natural gas rate hike.

The group is considering an appeal of the natural gas decision.
