Woman Accused Of Causing Manhunt With False Information

In Johnson County, police accuse a woman of sparking a manhunt with a false police report.

Joyce Gibbs, 46, of De Soto is charged with disorderly conduct in relation filing a false police report. The charge is a class four felony.

Police say they believe Gibbs called Illinois State Police on Oct. 7 and said she was abducted by an armed and dangerous man inside Ferne Clyffe State Park.

Police began searching for the suspect, but they eventually determined that the information was erroneous.

Gibbs will be in court for a preliminary hearing on Dec. 4.
