In Jackson County, a man is found guilty of shooting and killing another man in July.
Ronald Sanders, 23, was convicted of reckless discharge of a firearm, according to Jackson County State's Attorney Mike Carr.
Sanders was convicted for killing Donathon Brown, 33, at a party on the 400 block of East Jackson Street in Carbondale on July 31. Prosecutors say Sanders was asked to leave the party and refused. He eventually pulled his .25-caliber handgun and fired a single shot, fatally wounding Brown.
Sanders admitted to ditching the gun at Crab Orchard Lake before he was arrested in Marion.
Sanders could face between one to three years in prison and a $25,000 fine. He will be sentenced January 15.
