First Week Of Veto Sessions Yields Little

The first week of the veto session ended with no major action on gay marriage or pensions.

Opponents of gay marriage staged a rally in Springfield, a day after thousands of supporters rallied for the legislation.

Same-sex marriage legislation passed the state Senate in February but hasn't been called in the House.

There was also a hearing on gambling and state senator Jim Oberweis announced he will challenge Democrat Dick Durbin for a seat in the U.S. Senate.

An amendment to fix a mistake in the "Puppy Lemon Law," to clarify how much pet shops owe petowners if they don't disclose an illness at the time of purchase passed the Senate and is on its way to the house.
