In Franklin County, a 25-year-old man is accused of hitting two women with his car and leaving the scene.
James Lenzie of West Frankfort is charged with two felony counts of reckless conduct, one felony count of aggravated battery and two misdemeanor counts of leaving the scene of a personal injury accident.
Police say Lenzie was expected to return items to a roommate around 7 p.m. Sunday on the 200 block of East Lindell Street in West Frankfort. Instead, he threatened the roommate with an axe, and eventually ran over two other women who lived on the same block.
Police say Lenzie backed over one of the women a second time.
The women, both in their 50's, were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
Lenzie was arrested at his father’s home and he remains in jail. Online records do not indicate a first court appearance has been set.
