Alderman Pleads Not Guilty

A Murphysboro alderman is pleading not guilty to three felony charges.
46-year-old Ronald Nolan entered the plea in Jackson County Court yesterday. He faces charges of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, kidnapping and unlawful restraint. A motion to reduce Nolan’s bail from $250,000 to $100,000  was granted by a judge.

Nolan remains in jail. A case management conference will be set in 30 to 60 days, according to Nolan’s attorney.
Nolan was arrested in September for the charges, although police have not explained the details. Murphysboro Mayor Will Stephens says no action will be taken against the alderman until the case plays out in court.
