First Frost Expected Soon

It won't be long before Illinois residents will wake up to something that signals the growing season is over for everyone from farmers to landscapers to gardeners is over: Frost.
Illinois state Climatologist Jim Angel says southern Illinois will see its first frost of the season between Oct. 21 and Oct. 31.
The first frost of the season in northern Illinois will likely arrive by Thursday. Central Illinois typically sees its first frost between Oct. 11 and Oct. 20.
Angel says that the actual day the frost arrives varies so those residents who grow particularly tender plants should start covering them up now.
