Bridge Collapse In Jefferson County

In Jefferson County, a bridge collapsed near Woodlawn, but no one was injured.
The bridge collapsed yesterday afternoon after a semitrailer hauling gravel crossed the span over Rayse Creek.
The bridge had a satisfactory rating on a national evaluation last year and was designed to carry vehicles weighing as much as 80,000 pounds. The speed limit on the stretch of Panzier Lane is 55 mph.
Officials say repairs could cost up to $600,000 and the work could take months.
Illinois state investigators are expected to review the bridge on Friday.
