It's the first day that candidates seeking office in 2014 can circulate petitions, and some aspiring to the governor's office are ready to push their campaigns forward.
Republican gubernatorial candidate state Sen. Kirk Dillard has chosen state Rep. Jil Tracy as his running mate. He's spending the day on a statewide tour, including a stop at the Williamson County Airport.
Tracy is a Republican from Quincy who first took office in 2006 and is a member of the bipartisan pension panel tasked with trying to find a solution to Illinois' nearly $100 billion pension problem. She was born in Carbondale, went to Anna-Jonesboro High School and graduated from the SIU Law School.
Dillard announced his lieutenant governor pick late yesterday on Instagram with a video message.
