Hardin County has the third-highest rate at 12.8. Perry County comes in fourth with 12.7%, Alexander County is fifth with 12.1% and Union County sixth with 11.9%. All of those numbers are higher than they were last year.
The country's unemployment rate dropped slightly to 7.4% last month, but unemployment in Illinois rose to 9.2%. That's the same mark that Jackson and Williamson Counties are experiencing.
