SIU Missing Computers

Illinois' auditor general says Southern Illinois University must improve its accounting and inventory practices after finding 257 computers were unaccounted for during a recent audit.
The auditor's report says the value of the computers the university reported as lost or stolen during 2012 totals $416,183.
Spokesman Rod Sievers says the missing computers were a small portion of the several thousand on campus.
The auditor's report says SIU has no procedure in place to assess whether those computers contained confidential information.
The report indicates SIU will implement controls over computer inventory and data.
