Train Kills Fisherman



A Mount Vernon man is dead after being struck by a train while fishing on a railroad bridge with his family.
 
27-year-old Dominique Dontez McCrae was fishing on the Union Pacific Railroad track and bridge over Atchison Creek near Bonnie around 11:30 a.m. Saturday.
 
McCrae tried to exit the bridge by running southbound after he heard the train coming. He was struck by the train around the center of the bridge.
 
The impact of the collision knocked McCrae over the bridge railing and into Atchison Creek.
 
His body was recovered from the water and McCrae was pronounced dead at the scene.
