The Illinois Department of Natural Resources plans a series of meetings in June, including a meeting in Carterville, to answer questions from the public about the state's deer herd.
Staff members from the department's Division of Wildlife Resources will answer questions on the deer management program, hunting regulations and surveillance of chronic wasting disease, a fatal brain condition in deer.
The department is also taking comments from the public about its deer program.
The meeting in the area is at John A. Logan College in the TDR room from 4-7 p.m. on June 6th.
Other meetings will be held in Rockford, St. Charles, Champaign and Barry. More information is available on the Department of Natural Resources website: http://www.dnr.illinois.gov/news/Pages/IDNRtoHostSeriesofOpenHousesthroughoutIllinoisonIllinoisDeerManagementProgramNextWeek.aspx
