Jefferson County Waits

A new complication is popping up while Jefferson County officials try to recover Immigration and Customs Enforcement Detainees.
Since the prisoners were gone so long, they left in December, the jail has to pass a full inspection, which officials say is too expensive and too time consuming to complete this fiscal year.
Jefferson County Board Chairman Robert White says it could take 30 to 180 days to process an inspection request, so returning the detainees along with the revenue and jobs those prisoners meant to the county, will have to wait.
Officials say they expect to wait until Oct. 1st.
