Park Projects

Local parks around Illinois will be sharing $15.3 million in state money.
Gov. Pat Quinn announced the funding for 45 projects on Saturday. It comes from the state's Open Space Lands Acquisition and Development program. The program aims to expand outdoor recreation and open space in communities across Illinois.
Projects include a new bathhouse at the Franklin Park Pool in Metropolis and the developing a new city park in Pinckneyville. Other projects include picnic shelters, playgrounds, ball fields and trails.
Local entities accepting state money must contribute at least half of the total project cost.
