Jail Passes Inspection

The Jefferson County Jail can now house Immigration and Customs Enforcement detainees after passing a re-inspection.

The inmates were pulled out of the jail in December because the medical facilities weren’t up to par.

Jefferson County Board Chairman Robert White says he hopes the detainees will be coming back in the next week or so, but there isn't a guarantee of when.

The county expects to rehire up to 20 corrections officers.
