Injured Motorist

A man from Herrin is seriously injured after a crash on I-57.
Police say 31-year-old Jonathan Scott Thretford lost control of his vehicle around 2:44 yesterday near Mile Marker 57 southbound, a little less than two miles away from the Herrin/Johnston City exit. 
Police say he was reaching for a lit cigarette when he lost control of his vehicle, flipped over and landed on the side of the road.
He was taken to Heartland Hospital in Marion with what police say are major injuries. He was cited with improper lane usage and operating an uninsured vehicle.
