Public Aid Reform

Republican leaders from the Illinois House have proposed a welfare reform package.
Illinois House Republican Leader Tom Cross announced the plan Tuesday in Normal. He was joined by Republican state Reps. Dan Brady, Adam Brown, Pam Roth and Barb Wheeler. They say the package could save the state millions of dollars.
The plan would add photos to Illinois Link cards to stop fraud. Another part would prevent Temporary Assistance for Needy Families benefits from being used for alcohol, lottery tickets or firearms.

A third part would prevent those in jail from receiving public aid.
