Medical Marijuana will move to the Illinois Senate after passing the House.
State Rep. Lou Lang, the sponsor, touted his bill as America’s most restrictive – a pilot program that would restrict the prescription of pot to treatment of 33 specific illnesses, and by doctors who have a bona fide relationship with the patient.
He says those worried about pot getting into the hands of those who don’t need it, need to be worried about kids stealing legal, prescription drugs that have a higher rate of death by overdose.
The bill passed by a vote of 61-57. John Bradley, Brandon Phelps, Jerry Costello II and Mike Bost voted no.
