Local School Districts Making Deep Cuts to Staff

Budget cuts are to blame for two Southern Illinois school districts voting to cut staff.

Carrier Mills-Stonefort District 2, and West Frankfort CUSD #168 voted to cut teachers and staff Monday night.

School districts in Illinois are required to issue Reduction in Force (RIF) notices if they believe that budget constraints will require downsizing.

Carrier Mills officials say that the state owes the school district around $400,000. Officials at West Frankfort say that they are owed around $1 Million.
