Illegal Dumping

The Attorney General’s office has reached a settlement with a company accused of illegally dumping hazardous materials.

Freeman Environmental Services, Inc., of Herrin received four complaints of illegal dumping in a landfill in DeSoto after not sanitizing dry cleaner chemicals properly. The chemicals came from a dry cleaner in Anna that FES partnered with in 2009.

“This company will pay the price for violating standards in place to protect public health and the environment,” Attorney General Lisa Madigan says in a press release.

That price? $15,000 in civil penalties.
