Henry Fisher is a free man after his conviction for sexual assault in 2003 was overturned by the Fifth District Appellate Court last week.
The man from Carbondale was released from the Big Muddy Correctional Center on $100,000 bond. The bond was set because not all of Fisher’s charges were dropped, and he could still be prosecuted on appeal.
The three-judge panel decided that a TV report made the jury biased in 2003 when they originally convicted Fisher.
He appealed four times before succeeding, and he was scheduled for release on July 24.
