Marion’s former water manager has been charged on three federal counts of embezzlement.
Linda Heyde was charged Wednesday by a federal grand jury on charges that she stole around $524,000 from the Marion Water Department from 2009 to last year.
She is accused of crimes ranging from simply pocketing money from the register to setting up fake bill-pay accounts.
Heyde was the water manager in Marion for 16 years.
The charges carry a maximum sentence of ten years in prison, a $250,000 fine and mandatory restitution of the money she defrauded the city of Marion out of.
Heyde will appear in Federal Court in Benton on February 5th.
