Sheriff's Auxiliary

The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office is accepting applications to join the Sheriff’s Auxiliary.

The Sheriff’s office will hold an informational meeting Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Sheriff’s Office at 404 North Van Buren in Marion.

The Auxiliary is an unpaid volunteer position that has limited authority while working with a full-time deputy.

Even though the position is volunteer, Detective Carl Gusentine says there are plenty of rewards.

"The reward that you get is helping out your community and also gaining knowledge," Gusentine said. "We have people from a wide span in the Auxiliary, from new students that are tying to get into law enforcement, all the way up to retired personnel who are just looking for something to supplement their time."

Gusentine joined the Morning Newswatch earlier today, and he says the Sheriff’s office is looking for 10 additional Auxiliary officers.

The Williamson County Sherrif's office is looking for both men and women above the age of 21 with a valid driver’s license, Firearm Owner ID card and the ability to pass a background check.
