West Frankfort approved a land-swap that is expected to help the school district renovate or rebuild the Frankfort High School.
The city is trading the old Teen Town building, its parking lot and park of another lot near the high school in exchange for property near the police and fire department that the school district owns, as well as $4,500 from the district.
The City Council also announced a new police chief.
Shawn Talluto will officially replace Jeff Tharp, removing the interim tag he's had since he took over for Tharp last month.
Jody Allen was named the acting fire chief until the council decides to appoint a new one. Wes Taylor stepped down in October.
