In Williamson County, a fire damaged a home near Crab Orchard Lake.
The fire happened around 1 in the afternoon at 2600 Broken Handle Lane off Spillway Road.
Reports say the elderly couple that lived inside heard a loud noise in the garage and fled the house. The two people are safe but there is no word on the cause, the state fire marshal is investigating.
Another home in Herrin is partially damaged after a fire Tuesday.
The fire started around noon on North Sixth Street. Officials say a cord for an air conditioner may have sparked the blaze.
No one was injured, but most of the tenant’s clothes and belongings were a total loss.
