Tornado Anniversary



Harrisburg is marking the one-year anniversary of the leap day tornadoes that killed eight.

Tom Miller spoke with Harrisburg Mayor Eric Gregg about the tornadoes and reached back into the vault to uncover WJPF's coverage of that storm in the very early morning hours of February 29, 2012.


 
Several ceremonies are on tap for this weekend in remembrance.
 
There will be a moment of silence across the city of Harrisburg on Friday, March 1, 2013 at 10:00 am. 
 
At 2:00 pm we will have the unveiling of the beautiful monument at the Old National Bank branch located just off Rollie Moore Drive.  There will be a short ceremony to follow and everyone is welcome to attend.
 
Saturday, March 2 - Ridgway at St. Joseph Gym, Combs and Edwards St.  Ridgway, IL Leap Day Tornado Tribute 6-7 pm Registration and food.  7 pm Recognition and Appreciation
 
Slide show of tornado damage and a city-wide church service Sunday, March 3 - Harrisburg High School - Davenport Gym, 6 pm.
