A special prosecutor has been requested to investigate a battery claim against Johnston City’s Police Chief.
Williamson County State’s Attorney Chuck Garnati says he has a “close working relationship” with Chief Vernon Campbell. He filed a petition yesterday with the request for a special prosecutor, saying the 25-year working relationship with Campbell would be a conflict of interest.
Campbell is accused of striking former officer Tim Patrick on Feb. 9th. Patrick filed an official complaint and says he wants to press battery charges on Campbell.
Patrick says he was let go by the police department Feb. 21.
