Some So. Ill. Counties to Have Second Late-Winter Deer Season

More than 50 Illinois counties will have a second late-winter deer season.

The antlerless-only firearm deer season will run January 17 through 19 in counties including Randolph, Perry, Jefferson, Hamilton, Saline, White and Wayne.

So far, there has been about a 25 percent decrease in the deer harvest this year versus last year’s season. State officials are attributing much of that decrease to poor weather during the previous firearm seasons.

Permits are still available for the second late-winter season. If you have permits left over from previous regular or muzzleloader seasons this year, they can be used, as well.
