Semi-Truck Police Crash

In Pulaski County, a police officer hit by a police car involved in a chain-reaction crash with a semi-truck has been released from the hospital.
Pulaski County Deputy Kent Ray was cleaning tire debris on I-57 near Mounds around 4 in the afternoon yesterday when his parked cruiser was struck by a semi-truck. The cruiser then hit Ray before landing in a ditch. Ray was taken to a hospital for injuries and released late Tuesday night.
Mounds police officer Lyle Womack was inside the car, he was also injured and released from the hospital.
I-57 was closed immediately after the crash but is now completely open.

State Police still are investigating the crash and say the driver of the semi was cited for failure to maintain speed and failure to yield to an authorized vehicle.
