The bill that would require equal representation of the Carbondale and Edwardsville campuses on the Board will move to the full Senate floor.
The bill passed the Senate Executive Committee by a 9-4 vote.
Sen. Bill Haine, who sponsors the bill, says the bill would give the Governor a clean slate with appointments to the board.
He also says if he could kick former board chairman Roger Herrin off the board, he would.
The bill was proposed after Quinn’s three appointments to the board last week were rejected because they made the board lean heavy with Carbondale graduates.
Quinn currently has no restrictions as to who he can appoint to the board, but they have to be approved by the Senate.
