Schools may no longer be used as polling places.
Comptroller Judy Baar Topinka and the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police support a proposal to drop schools from the list of polling places.
They cite safety concerns, while Topinka says there’s several other locations we can use that wouldn’t disrupt students on a school day.
Similar legislation is being considered in Indiana, New York and Virginia.
