The Williamson County State’s Attorney office could issue a statement regarding the battery investigation into Johnston City Police Chief Vernon Campbell within the next few days.
That’s according to administrative assistant Jimmy Dean, who declined further comment.
The officer Campbell allegedly had an altercation with, Tim Patrick, reportedly says Campbell struck him in the back of the head on Feb. 9. Contrary to previous reports, he says was terminated by the police department Feb. 21 and did not resign.
He says there was also rising tensions between Patrick and Campbell’s son, Thomas, who is an auxiliary officer with Johnston City.
