New Dress Code At Jefferson County Courthouse

If you're thinking of wearing pajamas, house slippers, shorts or tank tops to the Jefferson County courthouse, guess again.

Jefferson County court officials will start enforcing a dress code at the courthouse in Mount Vernon on Monday.

Deputies will make near-daily announcements to courthouse visitors to take their hats off or cover up.

Apparel that will soon be considered inappropriate includes pajamas, shorts, muscle shirts or halter tops, mesh or see-through shirts, hats, or clothing with inappropriate or offensive logos, pictures or writing.

Anyone who violates the rules will be asked to leave the courthouse.

Signs detailing the new dress code will be posted.
