A report says Gov. Pat Quinn is ready to name two new members to the SIU Board of Trustees.
Lee Enterprises is reporting that the Governor will appoint retired Illinois Adjutant General Randal Thomas and former SIU-Edwardsville history professor Shirley Portwood to the board.
The report says the Gov. worked with the Senate, which shot down the Governor’s three appointees earlier this year because they lacked representation from the Metro-East area.
Portwood is from Godfrey and taught at SIU-E for 20 years. Thomas lives in Springfield and has both an undergraduate and masters degree from SIU-E. He was also a teacher for 30 years in Hillsboro.
A third board member has yet to be decided on.
