A man is in the hospital after being hit by a truck in West Frankfort.
58-year-old Charles Sharknas was crossing Main Street a little after 6:30 p.m. Monday night, when he walked in front of a Dodge Ram Pickup truck heading west.
West Frankfort Police Chief Shawn Talluto says the driver of the pickup swerved and tried to brake, but was unable to stop in time. No citations have been issued.
Sharknas was flown to a St. Louis hospital after originally being taken to Herrin Hospital. Among his injuries is a compound fracture of the leg.
