A man was supposed to be on his way to a halfway house in Iowa when he committed two car-jackings in Mt. Vernon Tuesday.
David Pederson is in Franklin County Jail now. He was released from the U.S. Penitentiary in Marion on Tuesday, the same day of the alleged car-jackings.
The first occurred at a McDonalds in Mt. Vernon, where a woman says she was abducted by Pederson. He allegedly bound her hands together and drove to a BP gas station where she managed to escape.
Then he is accused of stealing a van driven by a woman with her two kids as passengers at a Circle K gas station. All three were let out before Pederson was eventually caught in Nashville.
