Meeting To Be Held Regarding Broken Levees

Officials in Grand Tower are hosting a public meeting Monday night about the town's failing levee system.

The meeting will be held at the village's town hall at 7 p.m. Officials will discuss options in case the levee along the Big Muddy River fails.

Town officials tried using funds from a county bond referendum passed in 1994, but federal law prohibited the move.

Some options that are expected to be discussed include sandbagging around the river and possibly even evacuating the entire village.
