Mayor Forum

The Carterville Rotary Club will hold a mayoral forum in anticipation of what the Rotary's President calls the first serious race for mayor in several years.

The forum will be held at Carterville High School on March 19th at 7 p.m.

Rotary president Richard Davis says that he has invited all five candidates who have applied to run to come in the last few days and he is waiting on commitments from all of them. He says he already secured WSIU-FM’s Jennifer Fuller as the moderator.

Longtime mayor Bill Mausey won’t be running for the first time in 26 years, and Rotary President Richard Davis says this is the first time he can remember there being a serious race for the position.

The current candidates include board member Brad Robinson of Ward 4, retired plumber Ford Harris, police officer Mike Dungan, real estate businessman Doug Williams and retired accountant Sandra Congiardo.

Davis says Dungan’s status is uncertain since he was called into active duty after filing for the election, but his name is still on the ballot.
