The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet says the bridge between Cairo and Wickliffe, Kentucky is “functionally obsolete.”
Officials are considering a few options in regard to U.S. 51 bridge between the two states. They can completely replace it or reinforce it among a few other options.
Nothing will be done for at least the next year until a thorough examination of the bridge and the possible options are complete. There will also be public meetings in Cairo and Wickliffe at the end of the year.
