A man from Herrin is in jail after he lost control of his vehicle on the icy roadways while driving on a warrant.
26-year-old Brett Roeder was traveling north on Illinois 148 south of Zeigler around 11:30 a.m. when Roeder lost control, crossed a ditch and struck a tree, according to Franklin County Sheriff Don Jones.
After the deputy ran a check on Roeder, he discovered the warrant for deceptive practices. He was also driving on a suspended license, expired registration and without insurance.
The police also cited him with driving too fast for the conditions.
