The former longtime manager of Marion's water department was arraigned on federal charges of embezzlement yesterday in Benton.
Linda Heyde pleaded not guilty to three charges of embezzlement that accuse her of stealing over $524,000 from the city of Marion between the fiscal years 2009 and 2012.
She was released on bond on condition that she cannot visit establishments where gambling is allowed and she was required to surrender her passport.
Heyde managed the water department from 1996 until last year, when she was fired after suspicious transactions were discovered in her department.
