Herrin Elementary School has a new principal for the rest of the school year.
The School Board picked Marie Campanella to fill the vacancy left by Andy Shelby. He is on administrative leave with pay for the rest of the school year after the school board evaluated his performance and said Shelby was not taking the school in the right direction.
His attorney’s are working with the school board to set a hearing on that matter. Campanella, his replacement, is a former principal at the school.
