Governor Shies Away From Term Limits Proposal

Gov. Pat Quinn says the best way to implement term limits is for lawmakers to first pass a law which would create an "even playing field."

The Chicago Democrat was asked Wednesday if he'll limit how long he'll serve. Quinn is seeking re-election for a second full term.

Quinn told reporters that first an amendment has to be passed and that starts the clock on term limits.

Quinn has championed term limits in the past and it's already come up on the 2014 campaign trail.

Republican gubernatorial candidate Bruce Rauner is circulating petitions to get term limits and other reforms on the 2014 ballot. He wants to limit legislators to eight years in office. In his most recent television ad, he's vowed to only serve eight years if he wins.
