A man is dead after a shooting in Carbondale.
20-year-old Toren Stanley died at 9:36 Saturday night at the Memorial Hospital in Carbondale.
Police responded to a call about Stanley’s gunshot wound at 2:59 that morning. The shooting happened at the intersection of East Grand Ave. and Giant City Road.
The incident was originally ruled an aggravated battery investigation, but is now being treated as a homicide. An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
A candlelight vigil will be held in Stanley's honor at Ray Fosse Park in Marion at 7 p.m. Stanley played football for Marion High School.
