A fiery crash on Route 149 in Royalton Tuesday morning resulted in a fatality.
The crash occured at 2:30 a.m. when a black Pontiac traveling southwest on Route 149 collided with a semi-truck in the opposing lane of traffic. Both vehicles burst into flames after the crash.
The driver of the semi-truck, Leslie Fred of Murphysboro, was uninjured in the crash. Franklin County Coroner Marty Leffler says he will not released the name of the deceased victim until dental record verify his or her identity.
An autopsy is scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday.
The crash is still under investigation.
