Elkville has decided against cutting the police department.
The city council voted 4-2 against the idea at last night’s meeting. The proposal would have cut the one full-time and one part-time officer employed by Elkville. Officials say that would have saved the town $90,000.
The town is looking to make up a $40,000 deficit in its budget. City officials say the money will have to come from somewhere, but they aren’t sure where to make cuts.
